Repertoire
The Band performs in an exciting range of styles with tunes from popular music; from recent shows as well as Broadway favourites, marches, jazz standards, serious and lighter classical pieces and more. Some recently acquired repertoire includes traditional music such as waltzes with a Viennese flavour and Latin and Cuban material.
Concert Bands increased in significance during the 20th Century with much having been written for this type of ensemble. In our major performances the Band has recently performed music by composers such as Alfred Reed, Ralph Vaughn Williams, Clare Grundman, Gustav Holst, George Gershwin, Vaclav Nelhybel and Australia’s Percy Grainger, Brian Hogg, and music reflecting the Australian story, composed by our previous Music Director, Barry McKimm, for the Australian Bicentennial celebrations.
